The Theorem Ranch Incentive
Up to $2.79 million in 2027 bonuses across cutting, reined cow horse, reining, team roping and breakaway, including $100,000 guaranteed at the Riata Championships.
-
Step 1BreedBuy a 2027 breeding to any Theorem Ranch stallion.
-
Step 2RegisterRegister your Theorem-sired horse with Theorem Ranch at least 30 days before the event. -
Step 3PlaceFinish in the top five overall at a qualifying futurity, and Theorem Ranch pays you a bonus on top of the event's prize money.
The bonus isn't automatic. Your horse has to finish in the top five against the whole field. If no eligible Theorem-sired horse finishes in the top five, no bonus is paid.
2027 Futurity Bonuses
These bonuses are paid on top of each event's own prize money. Placings are overall, against every horse in the finals, not just Theorem horses.
Heading and heeling pay separately. They are two different bonuses. The champion head horse can earn $125,000, and the champion heel horse can earn another $125,000. The money is not split between the two ends.
$100,000 Guaranteed at the Riata Championships
This part of the program pays out no matter what.
Theorem Ranch will pay $100,000 to the three Theorem-sired horses that earn the most at the 2027 Riata Championships:
- $50,000 to the top-earning Theorem-sired horse
- $30,000 to second
- $20,000 to third
This is the only part of the program where your horse is measured against other Theorem-sired horses instead of the whole field.
To qualify, the horse needs a current Riata nomination, and the horse's owner or rider must have bought a 2027 Theorem Ranch breeding. The horse must also be registered with Theorem Ranch at least 30 days before the Riata Championships.
A Share for the Breeder
Every Theorem Ranch Incentive payment is split the same way:
- One-third goes to the horse's breeder.
- Two-thirds goes to the horse's owner, who can share it with the trainer or rider under their own private agreement.
Example: If a Theorem-sired horse wins the Gold Buckle 4 & Under Heeling, the $125,000 bonus is split about $83,333 to the owner and about $41,667 to the breeder. If you bred and own the horse, you keep all of it.
Payees are named when the horse is registered.
How to Qualify, Step by Step
- Buy a 2027 breeding. It must be a paid 2027 breeding to Stevie Rey Von, SEVS Judgement Day, Pepinstep or Outta Yur League, for a mare you own. Fresh, frozen and ICSI breedings all count.
- Pick your horse. Any horse sired by a Theorem Ranch stallion can use your breeding. It doesn't have to be by the stallion you booked.
- Register the horse with Theorem Ranch at least 30 days before the event starts. Theorem Ranch must accept the registration.
- Compete. If your horse finishes in the top five overall in the finals, you earn the bonus.
One paid breeding qualifies one horse at one event. To qualify a second horse, or the same horse at a second event, buy a second breeding.
What doesn't count: Rebreeds, breedings bought from someone other than Theorem Ranch and complimentary breedings do not qualify unless Theorem Ranch agrees in writing.
